Adopt a Family is a charitable foundation that steps in when a family member is no longer able to earn a living due to suffering from a chronic or terminal illness. By providing the family with a monthly allowance and the services of a social worker, the Foundation helps relieve the emotional, psychological and financial burden on the family, allowing them to focus on what’s truly important.

Although Adopt a Family was set up by our Founder and Chairperson, Mario Muscat, in conjunction with The President’s Trust, it is external to OZO Group. As a public charity, Adopt a Family accepts the donations of any private individual or public company looking to contribute towards the peace of mind of families in need.

Adopt a Family was founded in memory of Ivelina Radeva Gorgieva.

Ivelina was a friend of OZO Group who worked alongside us, laughed with us, and who always offered us a helping hand whenever required. One day, she shared the most heart-breaking news with us: she would have to stop working due to her being diagnosed with a terminal kind of cancer. We felt it was our duty to give something back to her and her family, which is why Ivelina was released from all her duties at work but her paycheque would continue indefinitely. This, the Management thought, would at least help alleviate part of burden she and her family were experiencing.

Sadly, Ivelina has since passed away, but her spirit lives on in the charitable foundation she inspired. Today Adopt a Family brings together numerous businesses to help dozens of families across the Maltese Island that, like Ivelina’s, have to take care of a chronically- or terminally-ill family member.
